The Howell Area Fire Department is very active in the Livingston County joint hazardous materials response plan.  The primary purpose of this group is to provide Technician Level HAZMAT service to the residences and businesses of the HAFD and Livingston County alike.  Members of the Livingston County Hazardous Materials Response Team (LCHMRT) from the HAFD are also a part of the State of Michigan Emergency Management/Homeland Security Region 1 HazMat Plan.  The HAFD has a cache of equipment staged at its stations to respond when requested.  Equipment that would include air monitors, ambulatory and non-ambulatory decontamination, chemical protective clothing and various other pieces of equipment.
